Understanding Cures

Bethea Medical Media, LLC creates animations, illustrations, and interactive experiences to communicate concepts related to the health sciences. We work closely with medical content experts to craft engaging, instructionally-sound learning materials geared toward students, healthcare professionals, and the general public. For more information, check out our work in the sections above, see additional information below, or contact us at: info@betheamedicalmedia.com

We look forward to working with you to create instructional media that meets the growing demands of health science education.

CMI LogoBethea Medical Media is owned and operated by Joel B. Floyd, Jr., a board-certified medical illustrator and graduate of Augusta University's medical illustration graduate program. Since 2015 we've created instructional media for a variety of platforms and collaborated with clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and patient education industries.

Our efforts at health science education are divided amongst three enterprises: short-form medical animations for learners, applications and interactive development, and the aforementioned collaborations with specialists in medicine and education.

Whether you work in healthcare, academia, medical publishing, or any related health science industries, we want to create the media to help tell your story to an audience. Reach out to info@betheamedicalmedia.com for project inquiries, logistical information, technical issues, or general feedback.

The stages of collaboration, which vary depending on client needs:

  • The project planning stage involves clearly defining the goals and desired learning outcomes of the materials. All design decisions will be tailored to your learning objectives. A general overview of the development timeline can be provided at this point.
  • Pre-production is when we work with you to define what the materials will look like specifically; for illustrations, this usually involves concept sketches, while an animation will be laid out in detail with a storyboard. Interactive projects may include a working proof-of-concept.
  • Once the concept art is approved, production begins. Drawings are rendered, 3D models are built, scenes are constructed, animated, and rendered, interactive modules are developed and coded, and any additional elements such as audio are created. We will be in contact with you regularly throughout this process.
  • After the materials have been developed, a quality assurance period will allow you to review the work, provide feedback, and request revisions.
  • Once approved, the final materials are securely delivered and archived by Bethea Medical Media.

Pricing is highly variable and depends on a number of factors, including desired medium, level of complexity, art style, and the intended use of the materials. In general, the cost of a project will consist of an hourly rate, plus a licensing fee that takes into account the context in which a work will be used, repurposed, or reproduced. A more detailed estimate can be provided during the project planning/pre-production stages.

One of our top priorities is expanding our library of instructional materials for health science education and working more closely with our audience to strategically target the needs of learners.

The Bethea Medical Media YouTube channel features short-form medical animations on a variety of topics. Please reach out to topics@betheamedicalmedia.com with any suggestions for upcoming videos, or any issues you feel aren't adequately addressed by existing medical media.

We're also hard at work on a number of interactive modules to explore medical subject matter in an engrossing, nonlinear, responsive format. Please visit the interactives page for more information.
