Process

Our workflow varies from project to project, as different timelines, budgets, and communication goals require that we be flexible and responsive to client needs. In general, here’s what you can expect when working with us.

Project Planning

Following an initial kickoff meeting, the project planning stage involves clearly defining the goals and desired learning outcomes of the materials. All design decisions will be tailored to your learning objectives. It’s always helpful to see examples of the types of materials you’d like to make or visual styles you find appealing. A general overview of the development timeline can also be provided at this point.

Pre-Production

Pre-production is when we work with you to define what the materials will look like specifically; for illustrations, this usually involves concept sketches, while an animation will be laid out in detail with a storyboard and working script. Interactive projects may include a functional proof-of-concept.

Production

Once the concept art is approved, production begins. Drawings are rendered, 3D models are built, scenes are constructed, animated, and rendered, interactive modules are developed and coded, and any additional elements such as audio are created. We will be in contact with you regularly throughout this process.

Quality Assurance

After the materials have been developed, a quality assurance period will allow you to review the work, provide feedback, and request revisions.

Once approved, the final materials are securely delivered and archived by Bethea Medical Media.

Pricing for custom artwork is highly variable and depends on a number of factors, including desired medium, level of complexity, art style, and the intended use of the materials. In general, the cost of a project will consist of an hourly rate, plus a licensing fee that takes into account the context in which a work will be used, repurposed, or reproduced. A more detailed estimate can be provided during the project planning/pre-production stages.
